Story of a Woman : Temptation
The Dahlia Flower just by itself stands for elegance, beauty, dignity, kindness, commitment, & steadfastness. The Dahlia flower being the color red stands for strength, power, & perseverance. This is a symbol of all of the things listed above as well as a symbol of inner strength.
The Cherry Blossom is a beautiful flower and bloom, yet it only lasts for a very short time. Representing how Eve’s short decision changed the path for women till the end of time. This also represents our prime. A woman’s prime of life is very short; make the best of it, take care of your body. The Pink Cherry Blossom represents the end of winter and the beginning of spring; this represents renewal and vitality. You see, after Eve bit the apple, our whole biology changed, which renewed our purpose and our plight in life. The vitality it represents means that no matter what comes at us, a woman will always come back stronger and better than ever.
The red lips represent our time of the month, which you will find in every picture. That represents we were born with our biology, and no man can take that away from us. It stands up for us a MOTHERS, not birthing persons.
Every woman in my series will all be in gray tones. Why? Because we are women, we are not our culture. Whether that be White, Black, Asian, Indian, Hispanic, that is not what this painting is focusing on. This series is focusing on women, because women should be celebrated, women should stand together, and build each other up.
The blind snake... The dark green symbolizes nature and growth, and the gold represents Immortality and the divine being of Satan a fallen angel. I didn’t forget to give the snake a mouth or eyes. He didn’t need them, because he isn’t really a snake. He is Satan, disguised as a snake tempting Eve with the apple.
You can see the apple in her eye, and the almost hypnotic look on her face, this is the moment right before everything changed.
The Circle gauge earing in her ear. The circle symbolizes Unity, Infinity, and wholeness. The circle can also evoke feelings of completion, confidence, and safety. I hope you enjoyed the painting as much as I enjoyed making it.
I began this drawing and painting with the intention of conveying a story of women - our strength, power, and struggles. My aim was to create a piece that would bring women together, emphasizing the importance of supporting one another. Witnessing an exhausted mother trying to calm her baby in a store? Offer a helping hand. Witnessing a girl facing unjust bullying? Speak up for her. Discovering infidelity? Direct the blame where it belongs - on the wrongdoing, not the woman. Imagine the incredible force women could embody if we stood united. Perhaps the narratives of these four women in my art can resonate with many, inspiring individuals to aid those around them and initiate a ripple effect of support. While I initially worked on this piece in watercolor, I found the colors lacking the vibrancy needed to convey my intended symbolism. I craved deeper and richer hues to truly bring the message to life.
